The Lamar Buffalo Ranch at Yellowstone National Park sits in an area where no commercial electricity providers offer service. To power this ranger station and visitor education center, Toyota is donating 208 Camry Hybrid batteries, which will help them store sustainable energy off the grid.

It takes about 208 re-purposed Camry batteries to provide stable, year-round power for the Lamar Buffalo Ranch. Solar panels gather energy from the sun, which is stored in the batteries to be used by the buildings as needed, night or day.

So, what do you think? After seeing this, are you tempted to recycle your Prius to power your off-grid cabin in the woods? We're always delighted to see the creative ways people can find to live more sustainably.
