When you look at the sales sheets for the current Toyota Tacoma, you might notice an interesting factoid. While the current generation pickup is ten years old, it handily outsells models that debuted from Detroit-based competition just in the past year. Now that the 2016 model is coming, we expect that trend to continue.

Although the competition may have some fancy tricks, the Tacoma comes to market with an arsenal of new features. Beneath the hood, a 3.5L V6 engine replaces the outgoing model's higher displacement forebear, while increasing horsepower and tow rating. These numbers are reported to be 278 horsepower and 6,800 lbs respectively.
