The automotive world lit up like a proverbial match when Toyota announced that their bestselling Camry would arrive all-new for the 2018 model year. It’s been over a month since the new car debuted in Detroit, and we’re still picking through press releases to excavate every last detail of the next generation model.
The new Camry doesn’t carry over any of the old tech from the outgoing model. Instead, Toyota has gone with the clean-sheet approach—a gamble for any automaker. The chassis is more rigid than the outgoing model, and the suspension tuning is all-new. On the inside, Toyota has dialed up the premium feel that was first seen on the 2015 model, and two new engines—a four and six cylinder—will also debut with this model.
