Toyota has been quite busy lately working on the development of its hydrogen fuel cell vehicle (FCV). There are of course still some roadblocks to conquer, but the automaker feels confident that an official launch is plausible for 2015. Let's take a closer look at the kind of performance the vehicle would be able to offer.

Based on the testing of the prototype vehicle which achieves a driving range of 300 miles, Toyota predicts that the production model will be able to yield similar results. With the ability to reach 60 miles per hour in just 10 seconds, the FCV certainly isn't trading in performance for efficiency.

What's even more impressive is that the FCV only emits water vapor, making it extremely environmentally friendly. When it comes time to replenish the vehicle's hydrogen supply, Toyota reports that this task only takes three to five to complete.

There is still a lot of progress that needs to be made before Toyota can launch its first FCV in California next year. The first area of focus is to reduce the cost of production so that the model can be available to customers at an affordable price. The second task is to create the necessary infrastructure that would be needed to support hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. Toyota is already well on its way to making this possible.
